Guggul Composition

Introduction
Guggul (Commiphora) is described one of the potent drug in Ayurveda. Owing to it's properties it has a vast application in the field of Ayurveda. Basically Ayurveda defines the Vata, the chief cause of the disease and covers a lot in number. And Guggul is the most appropriate one to fight against Vata. So to search for Guggul composition you will find most of it against the Vata disorder. Some common composition of Guggul used in the field of Ayurveda is like these.

• Chandrapraba Vati / Gutika : The name indicates that it is in form of tablet (Vati/Gutika), that acts such a way that the glow (Prabha) comes like that of moon (Chandra), leaving a great many of the diseases aside. The composition here includes Guggul along with, dry ginger, Pepper, Long pepper, Harda, bahada, Amla, Chireyta, Sweet flag, Rock salt, Turmeric, Berebris, Shilajeet, Purified powder from of Iron, Chelco pyrite, Cinnamom, cardamaom, etc.
  
  Indication : Piles, fistula, Anemia, Jaundice, Abscess, Ulceration like sinus ulcer etc, diseases of Urinary tarct like Diabetes, Dysurea. It increases the apetite, and makes the body potent enough to have the power like elephant, motion like horse, eye like Eagle, and intellect like Brihaspati, the advisor of Lords.
  
  

• Gokshuradi Guggulu : A medicinal formulation in the name of Guggul (or Guggulu), where the other ingredients include Gokshura and others (adi). The composition other than Guggul and Gokshura includes Dry ginger, pepper, Long pepper, Harda, Bahada, Amla etc.
  
  Indication : Diabetic, Dysurea, Leucorrhoea, Supression of urine, gout, Seminal disorders, Renal calculi.
  
  

• Kaanchanara Guggulu : The name indicates the presence of Guggul and Kanchanara (Bauhinia variegata) as the composition. The other ingredients are Dry ginger, Long pepper, Pepper, Harda, Bahada, Amla, Elaichi, Cinnamom, etc.
  
  Indication : Goitre, Tumor, Ulceration, Skin disease, Fistula, Hematoma, Sarcoma, Lipoma etc.
  
  

• Kasisadya Ghritam : A ghee (Ghrita) based preparation that has the composition like Kasisa (Ferrous Sulphate), and some others (adi) like Turmeric, Berberis, purified Yellow arsenic, purified Sulphur, Guggul, Bee wax, Pepper, Red sandal wood, Neem leaf, Sweet flag, Licorice, Harda etc.
  
  Indication : Skin diseases like Ringworm, Scabies, Psoriasis, Veneral diseases, Erysepalas, Tophis of Gout, syphilis, sinus, Bad ulcers, Oedema, Fistula in ano, Spiderbite.
  
  

• Panchatikta guggulu Ghritam : The name indicates the presence of Guggul in ghee (ghrita) based preparation, where Panchatikta (Five specified bitter drugs like Neem, Guruchi, Vasa, etc). The other herbs accompaning the composition are Dry ginger, Turmeric, Sweet flag, Harda, Bahada, Amla, Ajowan etc.
  
  Indication : Toxic body, Diseases of Bone and Joint, deep seated Skin diseases, Sinus Ulcer, Tumor, Diseases of Supra clavicular region, Diabetes, Tuberculosis, Anemia, Heart disease, Gout, Dyspepsia, Cough etc.
  
  

• Pinda Thailam : The oil (Taila) form of medicine that includes the herbs like Guggul, Manjistha Licorice, Bee wax etc.
  
  Indication : Gout.
  
  

• Raasna Guggulu : The composition of Guggul along with Rasna (the best drug against the Vata Diseases, as described in Ayurveda). The composition also includes Ghee.
  
  Indication : Sciatica.
  
  

• Triphala Guggulu : The Guggulu along with Triphala (The combination of three unique drugs like Harda, Bahada, Amla).
  
  Indication : Deep rooted, ulcers with secretion, foul smell, pain and inflamation.
  
  

• Trayodasanga Guggul : The formulation of Guggul. The part of the name Trayodasanga indicates that it has thirteen (Trayodasa) parts (anga). That means the ingredients included are thirteen in number (including Guggul). Those includes Aswagandha, Guruchi, Asparagus, Gokshura, Rasna, Ajowan Dry ginger etc.
  
  Indication : Sciatica, Stiffness in arm, and back and waist, Facial paralysis, Loss of function in thigh and feet, Deep rooted and painfull diseases of bone and joints. It is also indicated in improper functioning of heart, disorders in genitals, Fracture of bone etc.
  
  

• Yogaraja Guggulu : The formulation of Guggul with some other herbs. The resultant is so potent that the combination (Yoga) is called one of the best, and described as one of the royal (raj) form of combination. The other ingredients are Dry ginger, Long pepper, Asafoetida, Cumin, Sweet flag, Amla, Harda, Bahada and some purified form of powders of metals like Tin, Lead, Iron, Mica, etc.
  
  Indication : Skin disease, Piles, Sprue, Diabetes, gout, Pain aruond umblicus, Fistula in ano, Consumption, Tumor, epilepsy, Pain in chest, Dyspepsia, Dysponea, Semen disorder, Menstrual disorder, Obesity, Colic pain etc. It also acts as a Tonic.
